Sanders Middle School celebrates 5 Star Friday each month during the school year on the last Friday of the month. Each month has a different character trait that is recognized. Staff may nominate students who display that month’s trait and entries are judged, then an award recipient is selected. Winners receive a certificate, a bag of goodies, and have their photo displayed on the 5 Star Friday bulletin board for the coming month. One student is recognized from each grade level, the arts, and athletics.
Traits each month are as follows:
August – Citizenship; September – Problem-solving Skills; October – Respect; November – Perseverance; December - Responsibility
September winners - Kerrah Orvin – 6th grade; Maria Pascual Andres – 7th grade; Danasia Waters – 8th grade; Spirit Smith – Arts; CJ Hester – Athletics
October winners - David Devost – 6th grade; NiJwan Simpson – 7th grade; Kamryn Knight – 8th grade; Keniah Headen – Arts; Dresean Shumpert - Athletics
November winners - Elijah Hart - 6th grade; Zayna Jackson - 7th grade; Jaxson Adams - 8th grade; Jaxson Powers - Arts; Damella Rousa - Athletics
